Juan Carlos Cruz, better known as the one-time TV chef host of Calorie Commando on the Food Network, is under arrest, accused of suspicion of solicitation to commit murder.
Cruz was booked on Thursday in Santa Monica, after a city homeless liaison reported local homeless people had been saying Cruz asked them to kill someone. A judge set bail at $5 million.
Calorie Commando ran on the Food Network in 2004. In addition to his TV hosting duties, Cruz is the author of The Juan Carlos Cruz Calorie Countdown Cookbook.
