Perhaps recognizing how tough it is to follow up Betty White, Saturday Night Live turned to a hosting veteran in Alec Baldwin.
This was the 15th time Baldwin has hosted SNL, tying a record with Steve Martin. The (friendly) rivalry was acknowledged in Baldwin’s opening monologue, where Martin appeared “live via satellite,” only to be shoved back off-stage.
The episode was SNL‘s season finale.
