Since word first broke of Sandra Bullock’s marriage crisis with Jesse James, the actress has kept herself out of the public eye. But on June 6, she steps back into the spotlight.

That’s the night she will be bestowed with the MTV Generation Award – an honor that in previous years has gone to the likes of Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Spike Lee.

“She will be attending,” Bullock’s rep told People Magazine, though she won’t be doing the standard red carpet interviews. There was no word as to whether Bullock might be bringing her newly adopted son Louis.

2009 has clearly marked both the best and worst of times for the 45-year-old actress. She was acclaimed on the Oscars stage just this past March, with a best actress trophy for The Blind Side. Then scandal erupted around her husband, and the many tabloid headlines that pointed to rumored affairs with various women.

Perhaps the MTV honor will shift the focus again to positive news about the year’s most talked-about movie star.
