You know you’ve been wondering. And, of course, Stephen Fry has the answer.

The location for this earth-shattering event was the Hay Festival in the U.K. Fry, who himself has over 1.5 million followers on Twitter, announced the results of the most beautiful tweet after entrants submitted their efforts to Hay’s Twitter account.

And the winner is? 41 year-old Canadian Marc MacKenzie with the following: “I believe we can build a better world! Of course, it’ll take a whole lot of rock, water & dirt. Also, not sure where to put it.”

MacKenzie said he was “pleasantly surprised” to win but admitted that he entered 35 tweets because it “was hard to choose one as when I come up with a good one, I’m proud of them.” The father-of-two — who clearly wasn’t desperate to win this competition despite the multiple entries — said he started tweeting because he’s been told how enjoyable his Facebook updates are. Ironically, MacKenzie isn’t into the whole idea of sharing information: “Despite the public nature of what I do with Twitter and Facebook, it’s not for me to divulge too much information about myself — although I would like more followers. I’m a conflicted person.”

The runners-up contained these missives: “The blackbird’s tweet is fairer yet than all man can muster” (SyfretJ) and “Beauty is in the mind of the retweeter” (TheEponymousBob).
