The BP CEO may be on his way to getting his life back.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune has learned via a report from Sky News that Tony Hayward has been asked by BP chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg to relinquish his role as head of the company’s daily oil spill response team. In the Sky News interview, Svanberg said that the Gulf operation will be taken over by BP Managing Director Bob Dudley.

Dudley has been active in the recovery effort, including a recent tour of the oil-spill damage with Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Watch that CNN video above.
