The New York Times is reporting that administration officials expect the White House budget director to leave in July.

If Orszag leaves, he’ll be the first member of Obama’s administration to quit. The Times reports that Orszag never planned to stay in the White House longer than two years, a typical term of duty for the budget director, and that he plans to get married in September.

On The Page, TIME’s Mark Halperin says the Obama administration held briefings to paint the departure as nothing out of the ordinary, not a sign of Orszag jumping ship. “The presidential spinners’ efforts only partially worked in this case,” Halperin says.

The timing of Orszag’s departure could possibly be to allow his successor to plan next year’s White House budget request fully before it’s released in February.
