Because Kim Jong-Il is crazy. And broke!

Pegged to the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, the pint-sized dictator has a new demand — that the U.S. fork over $65 trillion in compensation for the hardship suffered by North Korea in the years since, a measure it calls “justifiable compensation.”

The figure includes damages for destroyed property and for North Koreans killed in the conflict, as well as reparations for economic sanctions imposed by the U.S.

But really North Korea is just broke and can’t feed its own people, a fact that makes this ludicrous demand more sad than anything else. (ABC Online, via Gawker)
