The bright minds at the Alaska Distillery have made it so that Wasilla residents can sip on a nouveau drink as they look toward Russia.

The AP reports that the distillery has launched a smoked-salmon flavored vodka, continuing a recent trend toward carnivorous cocktails. Alaska Distillery partner Toby Foster aimed to create a product that would shake the shelves of local liquor stores.

“I was trying to think of something Alaskan. What’s more Alaskan than smoked salmon? It was one of those epiphanies, I suppose,” Foster told the AP.

The smoked-salmon beverage has already made its way to American outposts, and new ideas for meat-based creations continue to be born. Last April, TIME’s Joel Stein got together with Tony Abou-Ganim, author of The Modern Mixologist: Contemporary Classic Cocktails, to test out some mixes of their own (see video above.)
