In recent months, instability surrounding the wall between the two countries has been centered on Arizona and its immigration legislation.
But as of Wednesday, a Texas state official was pleading for greater government help in combating growing tensions along America’s boundary with Mexico. The El Paso Times has a copy of the letter that state attorney general Greg Abbott sent to President Barack Obama, pleading for support beyond the 1,200 National Guard troops that have been sent to cover the entire border. The local incident that prompted Abbott’s cries happened on Tuesday, as gunshots, reportedly fired from neighboring Juarez, Mexico, hit the ninth floor of El Paso’s City Hall.
