Oil Spill: What if the Relief Wells Don’t Work?

At this point, BP’s oil spill PR nightmare can’t even be called ‘damage control.’ In fact, it’s a better idea to call it ‘damage management’ because they are going to be handling it for years. But that makes it a good idea to make appearances on very important news shows to actually answer questions regarding the effect of the calamity.

So Bob Dudley, BP’s Gulf Coast restoration chief explained to Ray Suarez from PBS’s NewsHour how the company expects to apply the relief well and eventually end the leak. But halfway through the video, Dudley explains that if the relief well doesn’t work — without sweating — that BP is working with the government on at least “two other options to divert the flow” if the relief well drill does not work.
