Audiences everywhere joined Team Edward or Team Jacob this weekend. What, were you surprised?

Eclipse banked an estimated $175.3 million since it opened last Wednesday, taking the top spot for the Fourth of July weekend. Even still, it earned $3.6 million less than its predecessor, New Moon, did its opening week – even though a summer release means more available tweens. Don’t cry too much for Robert Pattinson, though – the movie banked an additional $104 million overseas and had the best opening six days of any movie this year.

In second place came The Last Airbender, which was pummeled by critics, including TIME’s Richard Corliss. The 3-D adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon raked in $70.5 million since its opening on Thursday. The flick probably earned its sales after kids dragged their parents to buy expensive 3-D tickets.

Indie comedy Cyrus, starring Jonah Hill, John C. Reilly and Marisa Tomei, is gaining momentum, expanding to 77 theaters and pulling in $1 million over the four-day weekend, leading it to expand to 160 theaters on Friday. Other films didn’t fare as well, with flicks like Toy Story 3, Knight and Day and the Karate Kid falling by 50 percent in sales. Guess they should include vampires in their sequels.
