Concerns over unauthorized entry into the country have shifted out to sea.

Two separate rounds of immigrants were apprehended yesterday off the coast of San Diego. U.S. Border Patrol agents told the AP that one case involved 16 Mexican citizens in a skiff, while the other consisted of 18 individuals attempting to make landfall at the Marine Corps’ Camp Pendleton.

While much of the magnifying glass has been on Arizona, its border with Mexico and its controversial legislation, Southern California has been far from immune to its share of immigration incidents. The AP reports that more than 60 instances of unlawful entry by sea have occured in San Diego County since last October.
