The cure for erectile dysfunction can help some men score more than just sexual partners. (via Annals of Internal Medicine)
A new study shows that treatments for middle-aged and older men coping with ED facilitates increased sexual activity, which can in turn lead to higher rates of STDs.
The numbers are striking: Compared with non-users, men who take ED drugs have two to three times the rates of infection, particularly HIV/AIDS, both in the year before and after the use of treatments.
While there is no cure for HIV, the authors of the report recommended a preventative treatment. An ED drug prescription should be supplemented with safe sex counseling and STD screening.
It just goes to show that you’re never too old for sex ed.
