The Massachusetts state legislature released a list of 1,000 “great places” to visit. Too bad there were only 996 — and some spots had been closed for years.

The Boston Herald scoured through the list and found that not only was the list four places short — apparently due to duplicates — but it also was out of date. One spot, the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, has been closed since 2008.

State representatives blame the public, who nominated most of the places through the state’s website, but they say they tried their best to verify the list. But if you’re looking to travel through the state, do a quick Google search before you head to a spot that’s been shuttered.
