Shirley Sherrod Gets New Job Offer, Will “Think About It”

After reportedly being pressured to resign after a video clip of her speaking to the NAACP was taken out of context, Shirley Sherrod has received an apology — and a job offer.

Sherrod told Anderson Cooper on CNN that Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack offered her a job, concerning civil rights in the USDA’s Office of Outreach. But after a few hectic days, she said she needs time to think about it.

Though it’s not certain she will take the job, she accepted Vilsack’s apology. “I told him I appreciated the apology,” she said, “and I know that we need to move forward from here.”
