While a report from an Arab news organization claimed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s motorcade was targeted by an explosive device on August 4 in the western city of Hamedan, the government denies the grenade attack took place.
Iran’s official news agency says the explosion was actually just an excited fan setting off a firework.
Unharmed and undeterred, Ahmadinejad delivered his speech on the country’s controversial nuclear program as planned.
