You might Say a Little Prayer for Aretha Franklin, because although her voice might command R-E-S-P-E-C-T, it wasn’t enough to keep her from having to go visit Dr. Feelgood after a fall caused her to crack two ribs and cancel two shows she had scheduled in Brooklyn, N.Y. next week.

“I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island,” she said in a statement. “Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August.”

The Queen of Soul says she intends on making up the two shows before the end of August if possible. Meanwhile despite the lamentations of Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz at the weekly summer concert series on Monday, no replacement has yet been named.
