No, Fidel Castro is not dead. He has been schmoozing and making public appearances over the past month.

The former Cuban president is addressing the national assembly for the first time in four years. Cuban state media said that a special session of the assembly will be held this Saturday to warn the public of imminent nuclear world war between the U.S., Israel and Iran. Castro even made an appeal to President Barack Obama for world peace on Tuesday.

“You should know that it is in your hands to offer humanity the only realistic possibility of peace,” reports BBC.

The 84-year-old Castro ceded power to younger brother Raul in 2006 after falling ill. Is he trying to finally make nice with the U.S.? Nah. We think he might just be trying to promote his new memoir.
