French Police Force Removes the Height Restriction

Does size really matter?  It did if you live in France.

Previously, if you were shorter than 5 ft 3 in, you could not join the French police force. A new decree from the French civil service has gotten rid of the minimum height requirements.

“From now on the conditions of entry will be linked exclusively to the ability to carry out the relevant duties,” the French Labour Ministry said. (via Telegraph)

Height is a controversial topic for the French. President Nicholas Sarkozy, known to be sensitive about his height (5 ft 5 in), came under fire earlier this summer for discriminating against tall bodyguards.
