Freedom of the press does not apply to headwear.

Renee Gork learned that the hard way. The AP reports that the Arkansas radio personality was fired on Monday, after inadvertently wearing a Florida Gators hat to Saturday’s Arkansas Razorbacks football press conference.

Gork is a Florida alum, who claims she wore the hat because of a combination of inclement weather and just not thinking. But her fashion faux pas inflamed the senses of Razorbacks head coach Bobby Petrino, who snapped after she asked a question.

“And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on,” Petrino said.

Gork was hoping to apologize publicly to Petrino and the team on air, but she did not receive that chance. The conflict of interest stems from KAKS’ role as “Hog Sports Radio,” a network committed to covering Arkansas sports.

Station manager Dan Storrs confirmed to the AP that Gork was fired, telling the wire service via phone: “We are very biased. We support the Razorbacks 100 percent.”
