Yes, you phonies, the author’s ‘throne’ is up for bidding until Sept. 4th.

A toilet from the home American author J.D. Salinger lived in during the 80s in New Hampshire is currently up for auction on eBay, selling for – ready? – $1 million. The posthumous potty has been appraised at $100,000, but interested buyers take note: the white Crane Oxford toilet was manufactured in October 1962 – after most of Salinger’s body of work had been published. Still, as the News Observer points out, “Salinger is believed to have left behind a substantial volume of unpublished writing, and that surely Salinger conceived some of it while sitting on the million-dollar thunder pot.” For a million dollars, one can only hope.
