An outbreak of salmonella has led to a nationwide recall of 13 egg brands. (Should we say it? Ah, we’ll say it: These eggs are not going over easy with consumers.)
The Center for Disease Control has identified clusters of salmonella outbreaks in California, Colorado and Minnesota, linked to eggs are produced by Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa.
The eggs are sold to consumers under the brand names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. They feature plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946 and date numbers from 136 to 225. (These number are stamped on the side of egg cartons in this form: ‘P-[plant number] [date number].’)
Consumers should bring these these back eggs to the store where they purchased them. The brand of salmonella linked to the eggs, salmonella Enteritidis, can cause fever, cramps and diarrhea. (via MSNBC)
