Glee is arguably one of the hottest shows out there right now. Everyone loves it, right? Well, apparently not.
The Fox musical show—about a high school glee club—is clearly adored by viewers and critics alike, with more than 8 million viewers each week and 19 Emmy nominations. Even TIME’s own James Poniewozik listed it as one of the top 10 television series in 2009.
And with that kind of love it’s no wonder that mega-star musicians like Madonna, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé have all allowed their music to be covered by the singing cast. Even Paul McCartney—rumored to be a huge fan of the show—has offered up songs for the upcoming season.
Yet despite all the hype, there is at least one act that won’t be featured on the show. Reuters reports that when approached by the show, the band Kings of Leon–who’ve had hit singles with “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody”–promptly refused the producers’ request to use their music.
Glee fans shouldn’t take it personally, however. Lead singer Caleb Followill said that the band has also turned down licensing requests from movie studios and Ugly Betty. Followill’s reported response to requests is, ”Man, don’t even waste your energy.” (via Reuters)
