The running back had another bout with his wayward hands, but the gravity behind this action is not nearly as serious.

ESPN reports that LeGarrette Blount got a big spoonful of rookie fever on at practice Wednesday night, delivering a brief punch to Tennessee Titans teammate Eric Bakhtiari’s helmet. Blount made similar jab-related headlines last September at the University of Oregon, where he was suspended for eight games because of a punching incident with Boise State defensive end Byron Hout.

In this case, Blount had a base of support behind him from the staff. After an apology, the Tennessean reports that Titans head coach Jeff Fisher defended his player, separating the past from the present with the reality of an adrenaline-filled situation between two pumped teammates.

“I am not disappointed whatsoever,’’ Fisher told the paper. “His past is his past. Is that the first punch you’ve seen at camp this year? No.”
