As the Muslim-American prepares to compete in next week’s Miss Universe pageant, she shared her thoughts on a topic affecting both her religion and country.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Fakih parallels President Barack Obama when it comes to the constitutional foundation behind the issue.

“I totally agree with President Obama with the statement on the constitutional rights of freedom of religion,” she said in the interview.

But when principle was put next to practice, Fakih’s views have the space being filled by an edifice that leaves public opinion in a less edgy state.

“It shouldn’t be so close to the World Trade Center,” Fakih added. “We should be more concerned with the tragedy than religion.”
