Mid-air massacre 101: “This is an emergency. We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water.” Minutes later: oops.

Like most humans with a pulse, passengers on Friday’s British Airways flight from London to Hong Kong freaked out when that announcement was made on their flight. The AP reports that panic ensued, with members in coach sharing terrified sentiments.

The life-flashing-before-your-eyes moment ended once cabin crews quickly reassured those on board that the message was mistakenly triggered. British Airways told the wire service it is investigating the cause of the gaffe, but the flight was never in danger.
