It was not the cry “Fore” that could be heard around Shady Canyon golf course in Irvine, California, this Saturday, but “Fire, Fire!”

An unnamed golfer, while trying to hit his ball out of the rough, accidentally struck his club against a rock, sparking a huge wildfire. The blaze spread rapidly until it covered 12 acres of densely wooded land. Roughly 150 fire fighters were called to attend to the flames.

Southern California regularly suffers huge wildfires due to parched conditions. However, Orange County Fire Authority Captain Greg KcKeown told the BBC: “Personally, I’ve never responded to that call before.”
