But…[sniff]…what will this mean for the box office hopes of Takers?
Grammy-winning rapper T.I., real name Clifford Harris, was arrested late last night after a traffic stop in West Hollywood. According to police, officers smelled the scent of cannabis emanating from his vehicle and arrested the hip hop star for possession of a controlled substance.
T.I.’s legal troubles stretch back at least a decade. The rapper spent seven months in jail last year on a federal weapons charge stemming from his 2007 attempt to purchase illegal firearms and silencers.
Takers, a heist film starring the rapper, opened this Friday to tepid reviews and a $20 million box office, which was enough to take the languid weekend. No info yet on what the arrest will mean for the film’s word-of-mouth.
T.I.’s wife Tameka Cottle was arrested at the same time. As NewsFeed says: the couple that’s detained together, stays together. (via AFP)
