Apparently androgyny is the new pink.

Acne, the Stockholm-based fashion house known for its high-end denim, has released a collection of shirts meant to merge high fashion and gender-bending. The three shirts were designed in conjunction with Candy, a publication that celebrates transvestism. Editor-and-chief Luis Vegas told Interview magazine that he wants his silk and stone wash denim creations to stir tension in consumers: “Instead of the usual unisex statement ‘for men and women’, I want people to ask: ‘is this for men, or women?’”

The collection’s three shirts problematize gender by playing with proportion and adding feminine details—think big sleeves and ruffled necks—to classic western button-ups. Named Alexis, Krystle and Sammy Jo, each shirt pays homage to a character from Dynasty, Vegas’ favorite 1980s soap opera. (NewsFeed wonders: will Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Heather Locklear be the first to place orders?)

Acne—its name is an acronym for “Ambition to Create Novel Expressions”—will sell the collection in its boutiques worldwide. Speaking to Wallpaper.com, founder Jonny Johansson described the shirts as a “perfect collaboration.”

“This collection touches on ideas I have always played with when designing for Acne, the tension between male and female and what happens when you shift things around a bit.”
