In honor of the video game’s 25th birthday, NewsFeed complied the top five Super Mario Bros. video tributes.

Gordon College students blew their audience away with a scarily-accurate rendition of the game.

2. Violinist Plays Super Mario Music

In June, a live score of the original NES version of the Super Mario Bros. game was played by a violinist, capturing our hearts and starting a new craze. A close second goes out to the Super Mario beatboxer.

3. Luigi Finally Snaps

Tired of his brother Mario getting all the attention, Luigi finally speaks up — to not much avail — in this College Humor clip.

4. Halftime Heroics

It’s not every day that a football field feels like a video game. On Nov. 17, 2007, Notre Dame’s marching band lined up in its Mario formation, serenading the crowd to the Super Mario Bros. theme song.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! was not a good television program. but have one high point: its closing credits, which saw star Captain Lou Albano boogie his way through a dance called The Mario, complete with helpful how-to lyrics.
