The trio of graves were exhumed in response to an investigation into mix-ups and poor record-keeping at Arlington, and with the discovery of these three mislabeled bodies, officials said that there may be as many as 6,600 more bodies interred in the wrong plots.

Concerns over this issue have led at least one father to demand the examination of his son’s grave, who died in Iraq. An army spokesman told the Associated Press that he was not aware of any other families who had requested such an investigation. But given this week’s discoveries, their concerns would certainly be understood.
