Boston baseball fans can breathe easy — about something other than this year’s team on the field.

While the Red Sox are in danger of missing the playoffs for only the second time since 2003, an iconic figure within Fenway Park’s left-field panorama has completed its makeover in time for October. The AP reports that after two months of darkness, Beantown’s 45-year-old Citgo sign has received 218,000 new LED lights. The renovation brings a more energy-savvy, weather-steady face to an otherwise aging 3,600-square-foot sign.

The Boston Globe adds that fans at tonight’s game against the Blue Jays will see the sign make its revitalized debut during the seventh-inning stretch. With 16 games remaining on their regular season schedule, the Red Sox entered Friday at six-and-a-half games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays, and six games behind the New York Yankees for a Wild-Card berth.
