Imagine being born during the year when election talk centered on the battle of the Williams: McKinley vs. Jennings Bryan.

On Tuesday, Walter Breuning will feast over his 114th birthday cake. The AP reports that the Montana man is believed to be the world’s oldest male, bringing special guests to his soiree that include Governor Brian Schweitzer and Guinness World Records officials.

During Breuning’s lifetime, five states have been added to the Union and 20 different presidents have taken office in the White House. The elder has called Montana home since 1918, turning in a half-century of service as an employee for Great Northern Railway.
