Did New Jersey Fudge Numbers So It Could Hunt Bears?

American Black Bear (Ursus americanus). Mother and her cub of the year. British Columbia.

On one hand, we can’t blame them if they did, because bear hunts are awesome. On the other hand…no, bear hunts are still awesome.

NewsFeed generally is in favor of awesome things: zombies, sharks, dinosaurs — and, yes, if pressed we would probably admit that bear hunting is also on the list. Now it appears that some state officials in New Jersey may share NewsFeed’s affinity for things that are totally awesome and may have cooked the books in order to justify a bear-hunting spree.

New Jersey is planning its first bear hunt in five years due to fears that a rising bear population has caused a spike in bear complaints in the Garden State. But one local professor has examined the numbers, and thinks that the spike is a mirage.

Rutgers chemistry professor Ed Tavss looked at every bear complaint in New Jersey in 2009 and found that there were hundreds of duplicated entries.

“They would be the same complainant, It would be the same date, it would be the same reference number, everything would be the same,” Tavss told NBC New York. “When you remove these errors, instead of spiking, the complaints continued to go down significantly, scientifically significantly.”

Tavvs says that the decline in bear complaints can be attributed to state garbage control efforts, such as bear-proof trash containers.

The proposed hunt has re-ignited what the Star-Ledger calls “the bear wars.” Local environmentalists say that non-violent methods to reduce human-bear contact will achieve the same purposes as the hunt, while pro-hunting groups maintain that reducing the bear population is the only way to keep New Jersey’s humans safe. The anti-hunting side fights back by pointing to the hunt’s estimated cost to taxpayers: $600,000, which they say the cash-strapped state can ill-afford. While NewsFeed thinks bear hunts are totally rad, we are also sticklers for statistical rigor: fudging official numbers is totally not awesome. (from NBC New York via The Awl)

So predictiable. Johanson is part of the JewishMafia that promotes Zionsit causes and so called artists of very questionable talent (Are Woody's movies really good? Is Scarlet really beautiful or just an average short girl with an ok face and body on the plump side?). Is JewishJames Franco really brilliant or just some dumb pot head?

You see, Just as Penn State covered for Sandusky and The Church for itself and Russia for Russians, this group covers for each other and their causes. Very creepy. And gross actually. Like Natalie Portman who's fake Harvard Degree was granted by Alan Dershowits for the most part --- it's an odd scheme to promote themselves and their causes - just like every other screwy group in history. For example, Portman took most of her undergrad credits with independent study with law professor Alan Derhsawitz?! HOW does that happen? It doesn't with out corruption and string pulling.

Kate Hudson for example isJewish. SHe is far far far worse to work with than Katherine Hagle a goy and yet Hudson get no bad press and Hagle gets all of it. Gross lies. A case of the emperors new clothes. Already JewishNewscasters and producers at CNN are dusting off old stories about Catholic sex abuse to cover up for the Jewishchild molesters like Allen and Polanski. This is why diversity is important. The press should not be owned by one race and religion.

@AmIMissingSomething ---LOL!  I see you like ''smart and funny answers'' back.  Me, too.

But, seriously, there is no reason whatsoever that she should not advertise for SodaStream.  I see no reason she should even have to give any explanation at all.
