Nike to Return as NFL’s Uniform Provider in 2012

After ten years as the league’s main outfitter, Reebok will punt its branding rights at the end of next season.

The AP reports that beginning in 2012, Nike Inc. will reclaim its post as the NFL’s official clothier. The NFL told the wire service that the Oregon-based outlet has not held the highest title since the mid-1990s. In addition to the on-field uniform shift, New Era will join on as the primary company for on-field headwear.

Nike’s pro push comes a few months after it announced its collegiate Nike Pro plan — a unique design for several of the nation’s top NCAA programs. Similar flashiness could be in store for the NFL, as CNBC’s Darren Rovell caught up with Nike Brand Pres. Charlie Denson to talk about Tuesday’s developments.
