Those looking to purchase a white iPhone 4 will have even longer to wait. Apple has delayed the release of the device until spring 2011 due to manufacturing difficulties. Originally, the white version was expected to become available in July, just a month after its black counterpart went on sale, but the process has been pushed back yet again. Head over to Techland for more details.
I believe it and i'm African American. In many low income neighborhoods the clinics of Atlanta was giving out STD's to teen's and young mothers. Many cases have come up over the years where people were informed that they tested positive for HIV or AIDS and then later find out they weren't infected at all. The disease was created by our government to kill off minority communities. You're entitled to you're opinion and don't have to believe me. Several young people during my time in high school early 2000-2004 faced dirty practices at the teen clinics and explain to me why our biggest hospital has a CDC facility on the top floor. The same hospital that these clinics are apart of and that 90% of the blacks go to for treatment in Atlanta. I have an older male cousin who explained how a friend of his was snatched by men in a black van during the earlier 80's and they gave him something in a needle he later came up with HIV. I don't believe it's impossible considering the fact that in the late 70's and early 80's the army conducted malaria tests in poor ghetto neighborhoods in Miami Florida through mosquito traps or shall we say small boxes that were to control the local mosquito population only to conduct a survey after a set time of how many were sick and how many weren't sick. Yet no explanation given to the residents of the purpose of the experiment. The honest truth is we'll never know the full extent of what our government will or wont do to the public or already have done to us. It's also a known fact the African American communities leaders were targeted and assassinated in various areas of the country. So if someone with influence and power deems a certain part of the populace is a problem then of course you'll target that group or people in as many ways as possible.
People are gullible. I once had a friend try to convince me that the US government actually withheld medicine from black men with syphilis just so they could conduct research. I mean, come on. The US government doesn't lie or intentional hurt people, especially its own people, in any way.
You make it seem like the HIV thing is so surprising. The American government makes no secret as to their motives behind the infamous Tuskegee syphilis clinical study, so can you really blame anybody for being skeptical at this point? We are just supposed to accept because we live in a modern time that these sort of things aren't still going on? I think it would be the height of hubris to buy into that kind of American Exceptionalism nonsense! We are not morally superior, ergo anyone with any sense at all should watch the actions of The State with a discerning eye.
You make it sound as if half of Americans believe the US Government infected African-Americans with AIDS. This might be true of African-Americans but not the overall US.
Then you shift to what most likely is true, half of Americans believe the US Government regulators prevent people from getting natural cures.
Your emphasis is skewed to make it more dramatic, but it lowers the truth content of the article.
"According to the study’s lead author, J. Eric Oliver, the reason so many people believe in medical conspiracy theories is that they are easier to understand than science." Dr. Oliver is much too kind. The reason so many believe in medical conspiracy is that they are basically nitwits. The study proves it. Q.E.D.
This country operates on who has the most influence which in turn is who has the most money. Money elects politicians, and thus, money carries all the power. The United States government and other private groups probably did horrible things to African Americans as we can logically imagine; this and considering how atrocious our record is and one that is not taught in history class. Natural cures are prevented because western medicine is monopolized by drug companies that do not focus on natural cures. Cell phones also are a large part of the economy and opening that doorway probably would open a doorway to numerous other things that cause cancer such as power lines and transmission signals. It's like telling us that high fructose corn syrup kills us. I mean its in everything we eat along with all the chemicals in processed food. That would hurt the industry. Wait, were trying to limit sodas instead of coming out and saying sugar kills. Get the picture. The truth costs too much. It's all about money. The politicians don't want to mess with any largely funded lobby just in case that lobby invests money in the competition next political campaign. This is why lobbies should be limited to minimum donations like people. These are not conspiracy theories. The word conspiracy theory is a tactic by the guilty to label someone as crazy for trying to bring justice. The goal is to nullify the credibility of the tattle tale in hopes society will take take them seriously. At least the ones you talked about in this article...
The fact that so many Americans immediately seek the "real" explanation when they are "informed" about almost anything, of course, would have nothing to do with the fact that government, businesses, religions and other authority figures have been so blatantly lying to us for such along time.
Now information is leaking out, massively.
Americans as well as Egyptians know they are being lied to.
OK, let's hear it for he idea of punishing whistle-blowers.
Funny, how many times will we read from scientist, eggs are not good for you to consume and then we read from the other scientist, eggs ARE good for you to consume. Me thinks... too many crazy scientists and only one sane scientist exists.

@ccopeland48- Thank you! Why is it so hard to believe? They had a sterilization program decades ago (still going on today via the crap in our food and water causing problems), infected black people with syphilis, Native Americans with small pox blankets, not to forget to mention all of the government testing on our soldiers, plus more (all of this on record!), but it's all a conspiracy theory.... nothing to see here!
@lainnj Tuskegee Airmen ring a bell the government knowingly infected it's own African American troops with it.
And then there's this: http://wariscrime.com/new/the-13-most-evil-us-government-human-experiments/
Maybe Time would like to spend some time reporting on that unfortunate bit of history instead of wondering why so many Americans are suspicious. I don't think it's because they don't understand science, as your article, unscientifically, speculates.
Opps. My bad. Turns out the US government DID withhold medication from sick African-American men to experiment on them. What's more, unethical medical experimentation in the US is more fact that fiction. Why don't you cover that? Here's a possible headline for you: "Most Americans Convinced That Their Government Has Never Conducted Unethical Human Medical Experiments." You can explore the reasons why the American people are so uneducated about this basic fact of American history. Perhaps it is articles like this that seek to disparage people who doubt, rather than shine a light on the truth. You can explore the media's role in their ignorance and its complicity with the US government to hide the truth.
