To be honest, NewsFeed didn’t know this was actually possible. (Though Healthland knows that she isn’t the first or the youngest child mother.)

The Associated Press reports that a 10-year-old girl in southern Spain gave birth last week. Due to the age of both the new mother and father (who is also reportedly a minor) few details about the birth have been released.

The girl is of Romanian origin and hospital staff members reportedly told Spanish newspapers that the girl’s mother told them that giving birth at such a young age isn’t uncommon in their home country.

Doctors say that giving birth at such a young age can severely harm a girl’s body, as it would likely still be underdeveloped. Luckily, the mother and baby are said to be in good health. (via the Associated Press)
