After 8 months behind bars, Lil Wayne is a free man.

According to the New York Times, an inmate matching the rapper’s description was listed as released from Rikers Island jail today. An operator at the facility told the Times he was released.

Lil Wayne had served eight months of a one-year sentence after pleading guilty to attempted possession of a weapon after authorities found a gun on his tour bus.

While in jail, Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, Jr., kept busy, releasing a birthday album and writing a guest column for Sports Illustrated. If he was that prolific while confined, imagine what’s possible now that he’s served his sentence. (via New York Times)
