Talk about divine intervention.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame, based in Baltimore, put up a rare Honus Wagner baseball card for auction and hit it big. The Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop’s card earned the nuns $220,000 because even though it’s creased and trimmed from its original size, there are only 60 that are known to still exist. The card had been bequeathed on the sisters from the brother of a deceased nun. The money will go to support the order’s global ministries.

Why is Honus Wagner such a big deal? He was one of the first five ball players to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame because he won eight batting titles and was the leading slugger six times during his 20-year career.
