While most three-year-olds are probably inside watching the Disney Channel or beating Dad on the Wii this winter, NewsFeed has found one tot who is already well on his way to saving the world — or at least rare turtles.

This is the heartwarming story of Teague Whalley and his mom, Karen, who were walking along Sagamore beach in Cape Cod when Teague discovered a turtle, the likes of which they had never seen before. Mother and son then ran back to their house to search on Google for the phone number of a turtle rescue service in Cape Cod and found Turtle Journal (Slogan: “Saving the World – On Turtle at a Time”), who sent a rescue team out straight away.

But after reading up on how to protect stranded turtles, Teague and his mom returned to the beach to rescue the turtle from the rising tide themselves and kept him warm with dried seaweed. When the rescue team got there they identified the creature as a rare Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle. It transpired that he was injured so our heroes handed over care of theĀ  turtle to the Turtle Journal who took him to the New England Aquarium, in Quincy, for treatment.

If it wasn’t for a brave little boy the world would be without one more turtle. Aww. (Via Cape Cod Today)
