The Ten Baffling LinkedIn Clichés: Motivated, Experienced, Entrepreneurial

Attention job seekers: Are you a motivated team player with extensive experience and a proven track record in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment? Yes? Well, social schmoozing site LinkedIn has news for you: So is everyone else.

On Tuesday, LinkedIn released its list of the top 10 most overused resume buzzwords, compiled from more than 85 million user profiles.

What did they find? That we Americans not only think highly of ourselves and our professional expertise, but also that we’re decidedly unoriginal in composing our curriculum vitae.

So which clichéd phrases are we all going to be removing from our resumes tonight? Let’s count it out:

  • Innovative
  • Motivated
  • Results-oriented
  • Dynamic
  • Proven track record
  • Team player
  • Fast-paced
  • Problem solver
  • Entrepreneurial

With the unemployment rate in the U.S. hovering around 9.3%, Newsfeed thinks it’s about time that we all step up to the plate and ditch these common phrases for good. After all, employers are more interested in how well you can use a thesaurus than whether or not you’re a dynamic, innovative problem solver. Right? (via L.A. Times)
