Dark dramas dominated the best of television in 2010. But comedy wasn’t far behind.

Give a round of applause to AMC, the network home to TIME’s top two TV series of the year. Taking the top spot is Breaking Bad, which stars Bryan Cranston as a chemistry teacher turned crystal-meth maker. In second place is Mad Men, starring Jon Hamm as slick 1960s ad exec Don Draper. TIME’s James Poniewozik muses on Breaking Bad:

Often overshadowed by its AMC mate Mad Men, this everyman-turned-criminal saga found a new and higher gear in its third season, becoming at once more sweepingly grand and more devastatingly intimate.

Other top choices included NBC’s Parks and Recreation and FX’s Louie. For the full list, head to TIME.com.
