Given how MTV milks its reality stars, a Jersey Shore spinoff show was a given. But NewsFeed is surprised at MTV’s choice of spinoff star.

Spiky-haired goofball Pauly D is the first recipient of a Jersey Shore spinoff. Though no details were announced, it’s assumed the show will follow him through his DJ career. Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio was a DJ before the show, but his newfound fame has helped his career skyrocket. He’s certainly famous, but he’s not the breakout star of the MTV reality show.

The two Shore cast members who’d first spring to mind for a spinoff would be The Situation and Snooki. We get why Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino got overlooked — he was already on Dancing with the Stars, though he didn’t do well, and has created somewhat of a mini-empire in endorsement deals. Plus, he’s generally just obnoxious. But NewsFeed is genuinely surprised about Snooki’s snub. She’s always the life of the party and has the best on-air quips, and she’s even letting MTV put her in a ball set to drop on New Year’s Eve. Where’s the love for the pint-sized guidette?

We’re guessing Pauly D got the spot because he genuinely seems fun and easy to get along with. He’s not known for diva antics like The Situation and doesn’t appear a drunken mess at times, like Snooki and Ronnie do. Plus, he has seriously rabid fans. Don’t believe us? NewsFeed’s actual pick for a spinoff? Conan O’Brien’s production assistant, who has been gunning for a spot in the house on Conan. (via New York Post)
