What’s worse: he’s a notoriously bad tipper.

A bizarre story reaches NewsFeed from Connecticut, where a man allegedly attempted to hold up a restaurant with nothing more than his trusty iPhone. The 20-year-old suspect has been named as Jerome Taylor with the workers at the eatery understandably under the impression that he did indeed have a gun.

(See pictures of the iPhone.)

Owner and chef Dakpa “John” Norbu was in the kitchen when Taylor supposedly pulled out what resembled a small handgun. Norbu grabbed his knife and said that Taylor responded, “I’m just kidding,” before apologizing and explaining that he needed money for his child. He then fled, according to the police.

After being arrested, Taylor, who reportedly has admitted to holding up the restaurant, was adamant that he was armed with a black iPhone, and not a gun. But investigators didn’t recover either, with Norbu weighing in that he’d have noticed if Taylor had an iPhone, because he himself owns one. As for Taylor, he’s been charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with police. We’ll leave it to you to uncover whether there’s an app out there which can offer suggestions on how to hold up a restaurant or explain just what “sixth-degree larceny” is. (via AOL)
