And to think: they said that the President and Secretary of State wouldn’t get along. Not only does there seem to be harmony between the one fierce Democrat rivals, they’ve now topped Gallup’s annual poll. (via The Page)

Truth be told, not only has Obama won this year’s assessment, but he’s also come first ever since ascending to the presidency in 2008 and the Gallup list has a history of recognizing sitting presidents as they’ve been Gallup’s most admired man in 52 of the 64 polls.

But it should also be noted that the President’s popularity has slipped from 30% to 22% this year (though he scored a better than double 46% among Democratic voters but lowly 6% with Republicans). The runner-up was the previous man to rule the White House, George W. Bush, though his 5% hardly makes him admired but rather someone who seems to have simply come to mind. Rounding out the top 5 are Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Bill Gates. And interesting to note that Billy Graham (tied for 6th) has come in the top 10 a staggering 54 times.

In the female category, Hillary Clinton won with 17% of the vote and it’s a probably not a surprise to find the best-known female Republican political figure, Sarah Palin, in second (12%) and arguably America’s most famous woman, Oprah Winfrey, in third (11%). First Lady Michelle Obama was fourth with Condaleeza Rice in fifth.

Clinton has been number one on the list 15 times since making her debut in 1992 when her husband swept into the White House. And with the Clintons, Bushes and Obamas all making the respective top 10’s, there should be no need for any awkwardness around the breakfast table. (via Gallup)
