Redemption might not be complete, but Michael Vick is making a pretty good stab at achieving a dream comeback to the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is having a stellar season (notwithstanding Tuesday night’s surprise loss in Minnesota) and has been rewarded by being selected for his fourth Pro Bowl in a league-wide vote by NFL players, coaches and fans. Vick sat out two seasons while serving a federal sentence for dogfighting, but has electrified the NFC over the past few months with, at times, mind-blowing performances such like playing the Washington Redskins — he seemed to play them by himself — and that recent fourth quarter at the New York Giants, which may be a game the G Men won’t be able to recover from this year.

Four of Vick’s teammates will join him for the annual bash in Honolulu on Jan. 30. The opposition QB is the golden boy of the NFL, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. The league’s top passer will make his sixth Pro Bowl appearance (along with five of his team mates) though it’s worth noting that if the Pats and Eagles do make the Super Bowl, which takes place the week after the Pro Bowl, the players from these teams will have to sit it out.

The Atlanta Falcons, who harbor serious Super Bowl ambitions of their own, have the highest amount of players selected (seven) and there will be four rookies taking part, including DT Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions, who will be a starter for the NFC. Cornerback Devin McCourty of the Patriots, kick returner Marc Mariani of the Tennessee Titans and center Maurkice Pouncey of the Pittsburgh Steelers all made the AFC squad.

And if the Eagles don’t make the Super Bowl, the churlish among you may argue that this will be the first Pro Bowl actually worth watching. (via AP)
