What would New Year’s Eve be like without dropping a Jersey Shore star from great heights? Luckily, we don’t have to know.

MTV was set to ring in the new year by placing Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in a ball that would be lowered as the clock hit midnight, mimicking the traditional Times Square ball-drop countdown. For a second, it seemed like those dreams were dashed when the official Times Square organizers declined MTV’s request to build an apparatus in the area.

But the network, ever-crafty, decided to take Snooki where her fame began: Seaside Heights, New Jersey, at the original Jersey Shore house. TMZ has photos of the construction. The ball, complete with her name in lights, looks just as gaudy as Polizzi herself.
