We thought it was a given, if you lick a frozen pole, you are going to get stuck. It’s as if no-one’s even seen A Christmas Story.

This clip from the 1983 movie shows the character Flick frozen to an icy flag pole by his tongue after he is dared to lick it. Now we see that life has imitated art with the story of the eight year old from Oklahoma who found himself frozen stuck after he was dared to lick a stop sign pole.

Paramedics freed the boy, who was stuck across the street from Woodward Middle School in Woodward County, by pouring water on his tongue Tuesday until he was able to pull away.

Once his icy ordeal had melted away, the boy admitted that he had been dared to lick the pole by his brother, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

So here is NewsFeed with a serious reminder: no matter how much your friends “triple dog dare” you, regardless of how tempting it is, keep your tongue in your mouth where it belongs.
