Conan Blasts Christina Over Super Bowl Anthem Blunder

(Clarification Appended: Feb. 11, 2011) Was Christina Aguilera’s Star-Spangled Banner slip-up enough to provoke war? Conan apparently thinks so.

And you thought Sarah Palin went overboard by commenting that she wanted to deport the singer? (CLARIFICATION: Palin did not, in fact, say this. It was a tongue-in-cheek link to an article that was intended as a joke.)

The Packers may have stolen the show during the game, but the day after the Super Bowl, most people were buzzing about the pre-show instead. Christina Aguilera provided the kind of late-night fodder that hosts can only wish for. Letterman put together a parody of her performance with every line flipped and flopped into incomprehensibility.

But Coco took it as a declaration of war. He joked last night that the F-16 flyover pilots doubled back after the lyrical fumble to forcibly end Aguilera’s performance – with a missile.

In NewsFeed’s opinion, the explosion came a bit too soon. For theatrical effect, it would have been much more appropriate during the “bombs bursting in air” line.
