The famous game Ferris attended is discovered.

What’s not surprising about this story – the Cubs lost.

On June 5, 1985, the Atlanta Braves visited the Chicago Cubs for a day game. For some, it may have felt like a normal ballgame in a long MLB season. But according to a blogger for Baseball Prospectus’s Wezen-Ball, it was the game Ferris, Cameron and Mia attended in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Blogger Larry Granillo began his search for the mysterious game with a few clues here and there, including the scene of Principal Rooney grabbing a slice of pizza as the game plays on a TV in the background. You can hear legendary broadcaster Harry Caray’s play-by-play and see the baby blue uniforms of the Braves. Also, the movie was released on June 11, 1986, meaning the game was played in early ’86 or more likely 1985. From there, Granillo narrowed it down to three possible games and eventually determined it was the June 5 game. (The Cubs lost 4-2.)

And that foul ball caught by Ferris? It was hit by Atlanta rightfielder Claudell Washington (even though that scene appears that it was filmed later on).
